Sumiton Christian School provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills through many areas of service. The junior high Student Government Association (SGA), and the senior high SGA are very active at SCS . Students are urged to run for the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chaplain, Historian, and for class representatives in each SGA chapter. The National Beta Club also has chapters in both junior and senior high schools. Students qualifying for, and joining the Beta Club(s) are urged to participate in the various community service projects sponsored by the clubs and to run for similar offices as SGA . Eagle Ambassadors are students chosen to serve their school, fellow students and teachers. These fine students go through a selection process where they are evaluated by the administration, their teachers and their peers. The East Walker County lions Club sponsors the Leo Club for high school students to have the chance to work in a community service organization and interact with community leaders. The Walker County Chamber of Commerce selects outstanding students from Sumiton Christian School to serve as Junior Representatives to the Chamber. Throughout the school year, these students participate in workshops designed to teach leadership skills. Every high school student who pursues an honors diploma from SCS must complete 75 hours of community service. This gives the students a chance to show personal initiative and leadership as they plan, develop, and complete service projects to meet this requirement. In addition, there are over 40 dubs and organizations on campus where students can become involved in the total school program.
