Arts

High School

The Arts program at Sumiton Christian allows students to explore and expand their knowledge and abilities in each particular discipline. For musical education, students are encouraged to perform in chapel, participate in choir and audition for musical productions throughout the year including our annual spring production to help them hone their skills and confidence.

Theater

Our drama department involves students in a study of dramatic arts that will provide a foundation for future participation in and appreciation of dramatic arts. We typically hold a play production in the Fall and a musical in the Spring. Our annual productions are full-productions with performances, set changes, costume changes, music and more. It is our hope that students who participate will gain confidence in giving dramatic presentations in front of an audience and will learn to work with others in a collaborative manner.

Our student also attend Trumbauer Drama Festival each year and have received superior ratings several times and placed 3rd in the state recently as well as advancing to state competitions in the annual AISA Regional Drama Festival.

Previous Theatre Productions Include:

  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat
  • Cinderella
  • Selections from Charlie Brown
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Annual Art Competition

Junior and Senior High art students feature several pieces of artwork in the annual Art Show. Winners move on to compete in the Regional Art Show with 12 other Alabama Independent School Association schools and consecutively onto the state competition. Many SCS students have made it to the state competition earning first place honors as well as the Bevill Torch Competition and Congressional Competition. Several graduates have chosen to pursue careers in Commercial Graphic Art to Interior Design based on the passion and skills they developed during their time at Sumiton Christian.
